Women of the World was released in 2006 when my neighbour suggested I write a song for International Women’s Day.  I remember writing down the line “no matter how deep the roots may be/you’ve still got to shake that tree” and the song blossomed from there.  It has now been unofficially adopted by BPW International (Business & Professional Women) who have asked me to provide them with the song in their 4 official languages:  English, French, Spanish & Italian.  I only have the Italian version left to record and the song will be ready to make it’s way to their Clubs all around the world.  Couldn’t be a more perfect fit.

Women of the World

CHORUS:

Hey, hey, hey there woman

Hey, hey, hey there girl

The time has come

There is work to be done

Come on you women of the world

Hey, hey, hey there sister

Hey, hey, hey there friend

Come & walk by my side

Sing out with pride

Come on you women of the world

They say that change is a-coming

They say change is good

You’ve got to change whatever you can

In the place where you stand

CHORUS

They say the road is so long

They say it’s always been

But no matter how deep the roots may be

You’ve still got to shake that tree

CHORUS
