Winter Delivery from Kait’s Comfort Kits

This week, as temperatures in Belleville dropped to -33°C with the windchill, I decided to pivot once again.

Kait’s Comfort Kits was originally designed by Kait and me to bring comfort to cancer patients – but the need quickly grew. I’ve since delivered Kits to long-term hospital patients, palliative care units, emergency departments, and shelters.

And in 2020, when COVID hit, I paused the regular program and redirected $9,000 in funds and supplies to hospitals in need of PPE.  Your donations made this possible and they were gratefully received during the early months of that crisis.

Well, I felt it was important to pivot again.

With so many people in our community experiencing homelessness or precarious housing during a brutal winter stretch, I reached out to graceINN to ask what was needed most.

What they chose from our existing KCK inventory:
🪥 Toothpaste & toothbrushes
🧴 Lotion
🧦 Warm fuzzy blankets
🛏️ Ear plugs
💋 Lip balm
🧻 Kleenex

They told me what their urgent needs were so I purchased & delivered:
🧦 20 pairs men’s socks
🧦 20 pairs women’s socks
🩲 18 pairs women’s panties
🩲 15 pairs men’s underwear
🔥 50 hand warmers

Where things stand now

Kait’s Comfort Kits has been on pause as I work toward a more sustainable system that would include long-term planning, community partnerships, and the possibility of charitable foundation status.

But Kait’s legacy isn’t on pause.

It’s alive – in the warmth of a blanket, the dignity of clean socks, the small act of caring when someone needs it most.

I am sharing this update today with love and transparency – for the many of you who have donated, supported, packed, carried, and encouraged this initiative since the beginning. I am forever grateful.

graceINN kindly provided a letter of thanks which goes to all of you who donated so generously.

Please support graceINN directly however you can: graceINN.
