Welcome to Episode 20 in my 2024 Monday Music Matters “Song-A-Week” series of stories in memory and in honour of my daughter, Kait
This was a fun song to write and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it a teachable song so that students can come up with their own words to describe Canada via the Alphabet.

I settled on creating a karaoke version! I will work on that and post it when it’s ready.
I sang this song many times at many schools and I am always impressed with the creativity of kids. The key is that they have to name things that can be found in Canada. An “elephant” in a zoo for the letter “e” doesn’t count! They always managed to find all the words.
Enjoy the song and please feel free to share.

The first story, “Malaika”, gives you a bit of a background of why I embarked on this 52 week journey.
Enjoy the beautiful artwork created by Jessica Bell and her 2 sons: Aiden, 11 and Isaac, 9 to go with the story.
