Welcome to Episode 5 in my 2024 Monday Music Matters “Song-A-Week” series in memory and in honour of my daughter, Kait.

This week’s song is “Little One”, a lullaby I composed for Kait when she was a little girl.

It had been a long day of activity and when I put her to bed that night, this song rose up in my mind. I started singing it, making up the words as I went along.  It soothed her right to sleep and I ended up singing it to her regularly over the years as she grew.

What a joy it was to have Kait sing it for this recording. She was a truly talented musical artist who could adapt to any song she sang.  I remember telling her when she was in the recording booth to use her “angel” voice and she totally nailed this lullaby.  This is an extra special recording for me.

Special thanks to Jessica Bell and her two sons – Aiden, 11 and Isaac, 8 for their fabulous artwork that they created for this song.
